These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Mantapad iPad app, the Mantapad Mac companion and this website (together, "Mantapad"), provided by Pedro Borges ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Mantapad you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Mantapad.

1. Apple's License Agreement and the companions

Mantapad is licensed to you, not sold. The iPad app is obtained from the App Store and your use of it is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Standard EULA"). These Terms supplement the Standard EULA. If they conflict, the Standard EULA controls to the extent required by Apple.

The Mac companion (and any future Windows companion) is free and downloaded from mantapad.com, not the App Store. Your use of a companion is governed by these Terms alone. Only download companions from this website. The Mac companion can check for and install updates from this website; it asks before installing.

2. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Mantapad on devices that you own or control, and for the iPad app, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent or sublicense Mantapad;
• reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code, except where applicable law expressly permits it;
• use Mantapad to connect to, control or send input to devices you are not authorized to use;
• circumvent the pairing approval or other security features;
• use Mantapad in any way that violates applicable law.

4. Purchases

The iPad app is a one-time purchase. Its price, purchase and any refund are handled by Apple through the App Store under Apple's terms. The companions are free. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly; request them at reportaproblem.apple.com.

5. Your content

Anything you draw with Mantapad belongs to you. We do not receive, store or claim any rights to your content.

6. Control of your Mac

When connected with desktop control on, the Mac companion turns Apple Pencil input and the shortcut keys you tap into pointer, tablet and keyboard input in the app that is in front on your Mac. You are responsible for what that input does in the apps you use. Only pair devices you trust, and disconnect or turn off desktop control when you are not drawing.

7. Studio mode

Studio mode shows your Mac screen, or a window you choose, on your paired iPad. Only stream content you have the right to view, and be mindful that anything on the shared screen or window, including notifications, is visible on the iPad.

8. Compatibility and availability

Mantapad requires a compatible iPad, Apple Pencil and Mac on the same local network. Performance depends on your devices and network. We may update, change or discontinue features at any time. Features described as planned, such as a Windows companion, are not promised and may never ship.

9. Intellectual property

Mantapad, including its software, design, name and manta logo, is owned by Pedro Borges and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding. Mantapad includes open-source components under their own licenses, including WebRTC (BSD-style license) and, in the Mac companion, Sparkle (MIT License). The Barlow typeface is used under the SIL Open Font License.

10. Feedback

If you send us suggestions, you allow us to use them without obligation to you.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mantapad is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Mantapad will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of latency.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, work or profits, arising from your use of Mantapad. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Mantapad in the twelve months before the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under applicable law.

13. Termination

Your license ends automatically if you break these Terms. You may stop using Mantapad at any time by deleting it from your devices.

14. Apple as third-party beneficiary

You and we acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Mantapad, its maintenance or support, or any product claims, and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms. Changes take effect when posted on this page with a new date. Continuing to use Mantapad after that means you accept the updated Terms.
